Hydrogen transportation
Your path to the hydrogen core network: connection stations from OGE
Team up with OGE to have a hydrogen connection station installed on one of our core network pipelines for your hydrogen ramp-up.
Upon request OGE will incorporate a connection station for your site, distribution system or municipality into a suitable H2 pipeline as part of the initial network planning phase. This will give you the security of knowing that you have the option of being connected to the nationwide hydrogen core network when the pipeline is commissioned.
Securing a connection station will not automatically entail further investments in a connecting pipeline or a binding capacity booking on the OGE network. You will still have the flexibility to decide whether or not to enter into network connection and access agreements at a later stage.
Why should you consider a connection station early on?
- Hydrogen as the energy source of the future: By opting for hydrogen as an energy source, you can achieve your sustainability goals and position yourself for the future at the same time. Hydrogen offers a wide range of benefits, from environmental sustainability to operational flexibility and competitive advantages.
- Cost benefits through synergies: The construction of a connection station on a new or repurposed H2 pipeline can help achieve a number of synergies compared to a retrofit after system commissioning. This can help you save costs.
- Greater planning security: The continued development of the H2 network will require a considerable amount of work over the next few years. Later connections may therefore take longer to complete, which can significantly delay your projects. This planning risk can be avoided by opting for a connection station at an early stage.
- Location advantage: Create a location advantage for your company, your distribution system area or your region by securing a connection station early, giving you the option of accessing the nationwide core network.
Connection stations are currently offered for the following early OGE sections of the H2 core network.
- Sections of the GET H2 system to be commissioned as part of GET H2 in stages by 12/2027
- Wilhelmshaven Coast Pipeline (Wilhelmshaven-Küsten-Leitung – "WKL") to be commissioned in 12/2027
- North Sea Ruhr Links I and III (NRL) to be commissioned in 12/2027
OGE can incorporate the design of a connection station into its plans for a newbuild or conversion project as explained above. This service will be subject to a fee and will require an agreement to be signed by the date specified below at the latest:
